Opening a Print Shop in Türkiye: Licence Class and a Site That Takes Orders on WhatsApp

Which licence a print shop needs in Türkiye, its class as a sanitary-risk establishment, and a print shop website that takes files on WhatsApp and gives prices, with the Çağrı Matbaa site we built.

THE SHORT ANSWER

Turkish regulation counts print shops as sanitary-risk establishments: those with motors under 20 horsepower are third class, larger ones second class. The licence comes from the municipality and is issued within five days if the application is in order. The site needs a product catalogue and a way to send files on WhatsApp from every page.

This page is for anyone opening a print shop or print centre in Türkiye and thinking about a website for it. The rules come from the regulation on workplace opening and operating licences.

01Which class is a print shop?

Under the regulation's list of sanitary-risk establishments (gayrisıhhi müessese):

  • Third class. Print shops and print workplaces that do no type casting and use under 20 horsepower of motor power.
  • Second class. Print shops and print plants that use more than 20 horsepower of motor power.

02How to get the licence

  1. Set up the premises to meet the conditions in the regulation.
  2. Fill in the application form from the regulation's annex and hand it to the municipality.
  3. If the application meets the conditions, the licence is issued within five days and you can open.
  4. The municipality inspects the premises within a month. If something is missing, you get one period of 15 days to fix it.

In its inspection the municipality applies the rules on health, pollution, fire, work safety, zoning and flat ownership. Opening a print shop in a unit registered as a residence needs the unanimous agreement of all the owners in the building.

Add up the total motor power of your machines before you apply. The class depends on it.

03What a print shop website needs

  • Product catalogue. Business cards, brochures, posters, labels, banners, whatever you print. Sizes and paper options for each product.
  • Most requested products first. So customers find what they want on the first screen.
  • Sending files. On every page, a button to send the file on WhatsApp and ask for a price.
  • File preparation. Which format, resolution and colour settings you need.
  • How an order goes. File, price, approval, payment, printing, delivery.
  • Payment details. Bank details, with a copy button.

04An example we built: Çağrı Matbaa

Çağrı Matbaa is a print shop in Mecidiyeköy, İstanbul, printing everything from business cards to billboards. Customers send their files on WhatsApp and get a price. On the site we built:

  • A catalogue of the products the shop prints.
  • The most requested products first.
  • How an order goes, step by step.
  • Ordering on WhatsApp from every page.
  • Bank details with copy buttons.

05Finding customers

  1. Open a Google Business Profile. You need it to appear on the map for searches like "print shop near me". The steps are in our Google Business Profile guide.
  2. Give each product its own page. For searches such as "business card printing Şişli".
  3. Ask your customers for reviews. How to do it is in How to Get More Google Reviews.
