This page is for anyone opening a driving school in Türkiye and thinking about a website for it. The rules come from the Ministry of National Education regulation on private driving schools, with the changes of July 2024.
01Who gives permission?
Driving schools fall under Private Education Institutions Law No. 5580. The opening permit and the workplace opening and operating licence are issued by the governor's office. Every school must offer the class B certificate programme.
02Number of schools by population
The number of schools a district may have is worked out from the district population that the statistics office TÜİK sets every year:
- Population of 10,000 to 25,000. Two schools.
- Each further 25,000 people. One more school.
- Population under 10,000. No school may open.
The provinces and districts where a school may open are announced on the website of the ministry's General Directorate of Private Education Institutions.
03How to apply
- Apply on the ministry's online application screen within seven days of the announcement.
- Pay an application fee equal to that year's gross minimum wage into the province's revolving fund account, and enter the receipt number.
- If your application is accepted, hand in the documents listed in the Private Education Institutions Regulation to the provincial or district education directorate within three months.
A founder may apply only once a year for the same district. A founder who does not hand in complete documents on time may not apply again for two years. The application fee is not refunded.
You only have seven days after the announcement. Prepare your documents and founder requirements before it comes out.
04What a driving school website needs
- Licence classes. A separate page for each certificate class you teach, such as B, A2, C and D.
- Course dates. When the next course starts and the last day to register.
- Fees. If you show them, the same as the fee you announced for that year.
- The process. How theory lessons, driving lessons and exams go.
- Cars and instructors. Real photos of your training cars and the school.
- Registration. Pre-registration by a WhatsApp message that is already written or a short form.
05Finding students
- Open a Google Business Profile. You need it to appear on the map for searches like "driving school near me". The steps are in our Google Business Profile guide.
- Ask every student who passes for a review. How to do it is in How to Get More Google Reviews.
- Give each licence class its own page. For searches such as "motorcycle licence course".
