Instagram and a website do different jobs, and one cannot fully replace the other.
01What Instagram is good at
Instagram is good for showing what you are doing this week. New products, a finished job, a special offer. People who already follow you see it, and it costs nothing.
02Where Instagram falls short
- Someone searching Google for a business like yours in your area will rarely land on an Instagram post.
- Your price list, opening hours and address get buried under newer posts.
- The account is not really yours. The rules, the layout and who sees your posts are decided by Instagram.
- Not all of your customers use it.
03What a website adds
A website answers the questions a new customer has, in one place and in the order they ask them: what you do, where you are, what it looks like, and how to reach you. It appears in Google and on Google Maps. And it stays the way you left it.
04How they work together
Keep posting on Instagram. Put your website address in your profile. Let the website carry the things that do not change every week, and link from it to your Instagram so people can see recent work.
